St. Barts

It was LOVE, LOVe, LOve,
at first sight

1 hour 15 minute ferry from St. Martin to St. Barts

 St. Barts
is beautiful, clean, posh, and French
Since these are a few of my favorite things
I was in Caribbean heaven
~*Sun, Sand, Beaches, Baguettes, Croissants*~

Just a few Yachts in Gustavia, St. Barts
And a few more.....
Crystal clear water

Our student budget
had us staying at a quaint little B&B
The Normandie Hotel

Normandie Hotel Pool Deck

The hotel was Nautical themed

It was a cute boutique style hotel/ B&B
with clean and friendly staff and
French breakfast
All at a reasonable price
withing walking distance to beautiful Lorient Beach

Colourful sign and cans for cigarette butts...oh the french
Our stay on St. Barts
was short and sweet
However,
We rented a car
and toured the whole island with ease
We Loved, loved, loved, every minute of it
We sampled a few beaches
Saline Beach *tres belle*
Lorient Beach *Great Surf*
Shell Beach *Unique*

Shell beach
truly lives up to its name
the whole beach is covered with sea shells

She sells sea shells by the seashore
Steve, Nathan, Anne, Joel
St. Barts
is also known for high end shopping
We shopped (mostly window) in the two towns/cities
Gustavia (the port and capital) and St. Jean (the airport)

Even the graveyards are ridiculously beautiful on St.Barts
Cotton Plants... it really feels like cotton!!!
Beach side Hut for Lunch
Checking out the Surf
The St. Barts highlight was definitely
Surfing on Lorient beach

Nathan, Joel, Steve
The boys were so happy and excited
It was as if Christmas came early!

Surf's up!
I also joined them Surfing
I had previously tried surfing, a few times, at home in the cold Atlantic
All I can say is
warm water makes it much more pleasurable
I can't wait to try it again :)

Nathan & Angela
I was SO sad to leave St. Barts
It has everything you could EVER want right at your finger tips
The pain was eased slightly
when we realized our Travel Club
were  the only people on the plane!
Private Planes.... this is how we roll ....
So we ended our St. Barts experience
In Style
with a private "charted" Winair flight

St. Barts Airport
 All in all
no one could imagine a better vacation
Beautiful islands + Great friends ='s
The Perfect Vacation
Some might even call it
Legend.... wait for it... dary

Living up to my blog name...Island Adventures

So much fun
 and adventure
has happened within the last week
during our vacation
rock climbing, cliff jumping, spear fishing
It is hard to know where to start...
so I will continue to outline a day-by-day
recap of our wonderful holiday

Day six
Little Bay, Anguilla
Cute 'little bay' with a secluded atmosphere
you have to either arrive here by boat
or
rock climb down a steep cliff
although since it was featured on the shoe "The Bachelor"
we had lots of other people joining in our fun.

View above Little Bay
Climbing down Little Bay
The Ladies Above Little Bay (Ashley, Angela, Anne)
The cooler handoff
A very important job
The gentlemen (Joel, Nathan, Steve)

A popular Little Bay attraction is
cliff jumping into the water.

From the top...
it was a very high jump
into very clear but very deep water

this illusion was a bit much for some of us...
after this experience
it became clear our friends and ourselves
fall into three categories
when asked the question
'if your friends all jumped off a bridge, would you?'
Ashley
would not
I might
(after hesitating I jumped once, climbed up to jump a second time, but climbed down)
Ashley and I hesitating to Jump
and
Anne, Joel, Nathan, and Steve
Would in a heart beat!

Anne jumping like a pro!
All in all, a great day and  island adventure!

Later we returned to Shoal bay Beach
to enjoy the Caribbean Sunset

C'est Romantique
We LOVE Anguilla!

Day Seven
Spear fishing
need I say more
A local guy (Garvin) who takes care of our villa
and his brother
took us spear fishing
in our own back yard

we caught a feast

Something's Fishy....
well...actually...
it's a good thing the locals helped
because from our group
Steve was the only success
catching two small fish

Rainbow Fish
Fish Models......I think yes!
One of these things is not like the other

Although my fish
in the above picture is big
It's not quite as big as the Marlin below
caught during the fishing competition
during the Festival Del Mar

It was lots of fun snorkeling
and watching the guys fish
they even cleaned them for us!

later we had an excellent feast:)

Day Eight
Easter Sunday
we joined in the spirit of easter
and went to an Easter Sunday mass

The Caribbean flavor is infused into the service
for example
they sing the 'our father'
in an funky and upbeat manner.

Crash, Bang, Boom or Bam!
All our fun got the best of us
we all had a great afternoon siesta...

We toasted our Anguilla trip with drinks
at another fancy resort
Cap Julica

Sun Set Pictures at Cap Julica
Cheers to a great Vacation!
 Anguilla
truly is a Caribbean paradise
we left with lots
and lots
of fond memories
for the second, but much shorter, leg of our vacation
St. Barts
