Canada's Ocean Playground

Happy April 1st!!!

Unlike last year...
I did not have any April Fools tricks up my sleeve.

Instead
I spent this beautiful day with
my brother Chris, Avery (his girlfriend), and my grandfather
enjoying Canada's Ocean Playground (a.k.a. Nova Scotia).

We enjoyed a beautiful scenic drive to
Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia

Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia

This small fishing village and lighthouse
is the poster child of Nova Scotia
and one of my favourite places.

The rocks
It is a very rocky and barren terrain along the coast.
For my Saba friends: Similar to the Tidepools it is very rocky;
unlike the Tidepools the rocks are very smooth.

I heart the sparkling atlantic*
Me at Peggy's Cove :)
We spent our time there enjoying the views, walking and climbing the rocks!

The climbers:

This was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon with family and friends.
I really feel like I need to soak up as much east coast and ocean time
as possible during the next six weeks
before I make the big move to the midwest!

Kansas city: Take II

I had a wonderful week in Kansas city!

We celebrated St.Paddy's Day:

Happy St. Patricks Day!
Shopped the Kansas city Market:

Nathan enjoying a Market delight!
Explored the Zoo:

I heart elephants!
Had a picnic in the Park:

Better Together*

We Love Loose Park!

 Played frisbee:

I also had lots of time for personal R&R
I went to yoga daily, shopped, organized the apartment:

The pillows I made work perfectly!

And
Tapped into my crafty side:

We had a big blank wall in our living room
I wanted something inspiring to fit that space
without collecting too much extra stuff

I thought
what could be more inspiring than the world?!
I saw world map wall stickers on Pinterest on sale for 150$
This was more than a little outside my 'wallsticker' budget
So i decided to DIY
With a:
5$ blank sheet of chocolate brown chalkboard wall sticker,
Free Printable world map,
tape,
scissors,
and
a rainy afternoon in KC
I concurred the world and our blank wall!

We had lots more fun together and with our KC friends
I can't wait to do it again soon!

Until then, it's hi-ho, hi-ho back to work I go...

Absence makes the heart grow fonder...

If this is true...
Watch Out!
Nathan and I
should be plenty fond of one another!

From Amherst, France, Newfoundland, Saba, and now Kansas city...

3, 414km apart...

My brother Craig and I were talking and agreed
Nathan and I could write a 'how to' guide.

But since writing a book is not in either of our futures...
here are some of the thing which make it so much easier:

1) FaceTime, iMessage, & Skype
we joined the smart phone world and it was worth every penny!
Unlimited imessaging and talk with Facetime is fantastic...
I even helped him hang pictures in our apartment.
He just proped me up and I directed him...
Gotta love technology!
My parents talk about their, much different, long-distance experience:
Feeding the pay phone, once a week, with coins...Yikes!

2) Friends and family
We are both lucky to be surrounded by great friends and family.

3) Airplanes
As much as face-to-face chatting and friends help.
Nothing can beat being together.
Thank you Wright brothers!
I am planning another trip in 19 days...
but whose counting;)

Merry Christmas

2011
has been a year to remember.

From our
little island in the sun,
to quality family time at home.
We have been very blessed.

Recent events
of losing Nathan's, family home in a house fire
Has highlighted the true meaning of Christmas.

Quoting Dr. Seuss:
"What if christmas he thought, doesn't come from a store?
What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more?"

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

30 Reasons to Celebrate

Happy 30th Birthday to Nathan!

Last night it was Nathan's official B-day!

Therefore,
In a tribute to 30 years ago
we celebrated his Birthday
80's style!

About 30 of our closest friends and family
helped Nathan embrace the next decade...

Flashback!
There was lot's of
80's music,
Neon pink, blue eye shadow, and big hair!

Lovin the 80's ski pants!
Old school ski pants even made an appearance!

Speaking of appearances...

It was sooo great to see Steve and Ashley
who made the 3hour (ish) trip from PEI!

Hey Steve, nice glasses!

And for those who could't make it
Steve improvised and found some substitutes!

The Saba crew!
Angela, Nathan, Joel, Anne!
It was a very successful night!

Thank you to everyone
who came out to celebrate!
